Why Costa del Sol?

Some might say that there are 3 main answers to the above question and each reason could be summed up in two words: the weather…

Since it’s arguably true that the weather is the main reason for the Costa del Sols popularity, we have created a separate chapter for this theme. The most important aspect of the weather is its consistency. During summer – when the sun always shines – day and night temperatures range between 22°C and 32°C. Winters are a bit cooler, with temperatures ranging between 8 and 20°C (though it never freezes)!
There is no other place in Europe with a climate like this…

Over the past few years more than 450,000 British people purchased property in Spain and most of them bought on the Costa del Sol. Surveys reveal that 60% of buyers from Northern European countries who are looking to buy properties in the sun choose the Costa del Sol.
Why is this? According to researches it is due to the following:

- The incomparable climate
- The fast developing economy
- The advanced infrastructure
- Some of the highest standards of health care in Europe
- Good public security
- The diverse landscape
- The Mediterranean lifestyle
- The high standard of education (higher than in the UK)
- The possibilities for jobs and business enterprises

You have the chance here to forget the windy, rainy autumn days and the dark and chilly winter evenings. Instead you can enjoy an advanced, enviable lifestyle…

20 000 British residents have already undertaken life in the Costa del Sol as successful entrepreneurs. Last year the building of 700 000 apartments was started; this is more than in France, Germany and the Benelux countries put together. In 2004 approximately 1 million new jobs were created in the EU, half of them in Spain. The economic rise of Spain is linked with investments in the development of the infrastructure, eg. the reconstruction of Málaga International Airport (191 million was spent on this project). The traffic of the airport is expected eventually to increase from 12 million (2004) to 20 million.

The Spanish government plans to further improve the infrastructure of the Costa del Sol, such as the construction of the underground in Málaga, or the opening of the “Costa del Sol” railway between Málaga and Estepona. Furthermore a new highway has been built from Málaga to Gibraltar, through Marbella and Estepona.

Considering the Costa del Sol’s climate, entertainment and sport facilities, fun and adventure parks, natural attractions and surroundings and cultural variety, it is not surprising that more than 4 million people put down roots in Spain in the last five years.

And this is just the beginning! According to predictions more than 2 million people are going to buy property in the Costa del Sol, over the next few years..
